Dear Allie,
You go by Allison at school now. It still catches me off guard when I hear other students or teachers call you Allison. I obviously love the name because that is what I named you but you have been Allie for so long. You finally told me that it was okay if we called you Allie. I'll continue trying. You love school! I miss you terribly while you are gone. I didn't expect you to enjoy it as much as you do. I thought you would be exhausted and come home ornery. I thought you would miss being here more than you do. I think every mother wants their child to be happy when they are gone but have a little longing to be home. I am thrilled that you are happy. You told me the other day that you are going to play with a different friend from your class each day for recess. Your teacher has told me that you are the reason she gets up in the morning. If she could have a class full of you, her job would be perfect. We take such pride in you and are so grateful that you are a wonderful example in class. You obey the rules and are so sweet to the other children. You haven't had a chance to read to your teacher yet but we know you will surprise her when she hears how great you are! I love reading with you each night and I can't wait to see how much you learn during this kindergarten year.
You are still so wonderful with Keith. You make an effort to spend time with him when you get home from school and he brightens up as soon as he sees you. I think you two will have a special relationship for a long time. I love putting you on the counter and listening to your stories from the day while I make dinner. You are great to open up and give such wonderful details about your activities and friends.
You are learning to play the piano and you are doing so well. It is so fun to hear you play and you are anxiously working through the music until you get to Twinkle Twinkle. You saw that piece and you are so excited to play it by yourself. It is hard for you to come home from school and practice but you are doing great. You hate when I keep the beat for you so I never do. Or you will listen to me count out the beat and then repeat it by yourself with no problems.
You are a wonderful child. I miss your smiling face and happy demeanor and am thrilled when 4:00 roles around. I hope you can keep working hard.
I love you Bug!
