Dear Megan,

Dear Megan,

School has started and you are in the 1st grade. You are doing so great! You are a wonderful child who loves to learn. Your teacher has already told us what an asset you are to the class and that you are a model of good behavior. We are so proud of you and your example. You make friends so easily and seem so happy to be at school. While visiting you for lunch yesterday, multiple children waved at you and you quickly told me who they all were. Each child had a story attached to them whether you play with them on the playground, they were in your class last year or they were just a friend of a friend. You are still not eating your lunches well but you come home happy so I don't mind as much as I did last year. Allison looks up to you so much and you have been wonderful to pull her into your little world at school. Rebecca is always anxious for you to get home from school. She misses you the most as you are always the best at playing with her. She is always thrilled when Allison has to practice first because that means you get to play with first.

You are learning to play the piano and you are doing a wonderful job! Each day you amaze me and I am so proud of your hardwork. It took a couple of days of tears and frustration but you sit down now with such confidence and it is coming so naturally. You enjoy gymnastics but not as much as Allison. We're still not sure what activities you will enjoy doing as you get older. For now you are just happy with anything.

Being the oldest, you have a lot of added responsibility but you handle it all so well. You are a wonderful helper and we love having you work by our side. Thank you for not throwing fits over dinner. Please, please learn to hurry just a little bit. You can not do anything quickly. Well, that is not true. You can do math worksheets quickly but everything else you move at a snails pace. I am trying to love that characteristic of you but somedays it is harder than others.

Daddy's sister once called the older kids the "pancake batch." You always mess up with the first batch but then figure things out. I pray each day that you will be just as great as the younger kids even though we are learning so much with you.

Love you Megs!
